Joan E. Holmes

KEWANEE – Joan Elaine Holmes, 78, of Kewanee, died at 12:35 p.m., Thursday, December 16, 2021 at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

She was born September 7, 1943 in Galva, the daughter of Elmer and Louise (Otterstrom) Nelson. She married John Holmes in 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include her four children; Teresa, Jane, Terry and John and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bobbie Nelson.

Joan had worked as police officer for the City of Kewanee. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed a cup of tea in the morning and drinking Capri Sun’s She also enjoyed watching homicide detective shows and knitting.
