MILAN – John D. Momon, 83, of Milan, died at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Generations at Rock Island.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13 at the Second Baptist Church in Rock Island. Pastor Joseph D. Williamson III will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Morgan Foundation. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born October 29, 1935 in Carthage, MS, the son Harrison and Pearlie (Morgan) Momon. He married Rebecca O’Conner. Survivors include his wife of Milan, four brothers; Waymond Momon, Harrison, Momon, Grady Momon and Fidel Castro Momon, three sisters; Evon Reed, Florine Hopkins and Caroline Harding, two grandchildren, John David O’Conner and Trent Smith and a great grandchild, Justice O’Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and four brothers.
John worked as a laborer and industrial trucker for John Deere, retiring in 1994 following 40 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriner’s. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and gardening.
