John Schieler

John Eric Schieler, 58, of Kewanee passed away on April 8, 2025.

John was born on November 28, 1966 in Kewanee, the son of Raymond ‘Ray’ and Nellie (Swanson) Schieler.  He is survived by one brother, Bryan (Kelly) Schieler of Palatine, IL, a sister, Mary (Steven) Shippy of Queen Creek, AZ, a niece, Isabella, and a nephew, Kellan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Gregg.

John graduated from Kewanee High School in 1987 and was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical UCC in Kewanee. He was an avid fan of Chicago professional sports, especially the Cubs and the Bears. John operated the cash register at the Abilities Plus snacks store for many years. He was obsessed with maps, sports magazines, and making us laugh.

John will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Donations in John’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s Evangelical UCC.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Michael Cassady officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee.
