GALVA – John Ray DeCrane, 66, of Galva, died at 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his home.
A public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Private funeral services for his family will follow at the funeral home. Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The funeral home will monitor capacity limits to maintain compliance with COVID regulations. The funeral home requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.
He was born December 8, 1953 in Kewanee, the son of John P. and Kathleen M. (Kitterman) DeCrane. He married Shelly L. Lamey on June 14, 1989 in Hesperia, CA. Survivors include his wife of Galva, his mother of Galva, two daughters, Nicky (Matt) Edwards of Des Moines, IA and Jessica (Matt) Donahoo of Peoria Heights, two brothers, Chuck (Kathy) DeCrane of Altona and Toby (Eileen) DeCrane of Oswego, IL, a sister, Sally DeCrane of Galva, his three grandchildren; Abby, Matthew and David and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his brother, Dean and his nephew, Brian.
Ray attended Galva High School and had worked as an independent truckdriver. He was associated with the First Congregational Church in Galva. He enjoyed doing lawn care and woodworking and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
