Jollene Michelle Gunlikson (Cooper) passed away peacefully at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 23, 2024. Born July 8, 1973, to parents Mary Jo Hasley (Nichols) of Galva and Danny Lee Cooper of Petersburg.
Jollene graduated from Galesburg High School in 1992 and later graduated from Carl Sandburg College. She was a loving caretaker and her different lines of work showed just that. She served in the National Guard from 1996-2004 and later found her passion of being an X-ray technician for 12 plus years at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL and later at Genesis Medical Center in Aledo, IL. She also enjoyed teaching physics at Carl Sandburg College for 4 years. Jollene had her son Ethan McCone in 1998 and married Lee McCone of Galesburg from 2003-2011. Jollene was a loving mother and proud aunt to her nieces and nephews. When she wasn’t taking care of others, Jollene was avid about fitness and loved to workout. She was a huge Cubs fan and had a special place in her heart for animals. She also loved hosting family gatherings, especially Christmas. Her house frequented the paper because of her extravagant array of Christmas decorations.
Jollene is preceded in death by her mother, father, twin sister Marlene Cooper, and older brother Kenneth Cooper of Blandinsville, IL. She is survived by her son Ethan McCone of Galesburg, sisters Tangee (Pat) Frazier of Quincy, Crystal Cooper of Chattanooga TN, Kelli Jo (Jeff) McFadden, stepbrother Jeremy Longcor, and stepfather Paul Hasley all of Galesburg. She also leaves behind two cats; Haas and Stink, and two dogs; Sunshine and Raider.
Jollene was a beautiful soul and will forever shine bright in the hearts of everyone she knew. She will be cremated and laid to rest with her twin sister Marlene. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made directly to Rux Funeral Home in Galva, Illinois
