Joseph Eugene Kutchma, 90, of Kewanee, died at 12:00 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025 at his home.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Narcis Katambe. The burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Visitation School, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born on November 1, 1935 in Kewanee, the son of Stanislaus and Katherine (Thurwanger) Kutchma. He married Elaine Gruszeczki on May 17, 1958 in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, two sons, Randy Kutchma of Alton, IL and Kevin (Michele) Kutchma of Hudson, IL, two daughters, Christy DeSmit and Pam Neirynck, both of Kewanee, nine grandchildren; Ashley (Damian) Paxton, Chelsea Neirynck, Madeline (Brett) Behnke, Eric (Andrea) Neirynck, Josh (Becca) Kutchma, Grace Kutchma, Myida Kutchma, Cailey Kutchma and Gabrielle Kutchma and seven great grandchildren; Charlotte, Preston, Ben, Claire, Amelia, Autumn and Kayson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kathleen Johnson and Loretta Kutchma.
Joe graduated from Toulon High School in 1953 and served his country in the National Guard. He worked as an inspector at Hyster/ Bomag in Kewanee. He was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee and enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and spending time with his family.
