KEWANEE – Julie M. Perkins, 52, of Kewanee, died at 7:36 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2021 at her home.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Julie's Toy Drive. The funeral home will maintain compliance with COVID regulations and requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.
She was born March 28, 1969 in Kewanee, the daughter of Richard and Lois (Bickers) Gibson. She married Anthony “Tony” Perkins on March 4, 2000. Survivors include her husband of Kewanee, her parents of Kewanee, a sister, Jodie (Todd) DeSchepper of Kewanee, her in-laws, Larry and Sharon Perkins, five sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, a great aunt, Beatrice Shaw of Annawan and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews including; niece, Abigail DeSchepper and nephew, Nathaniel DeSchepper, both of Kewanee. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Raymond (Dorothy) Gibson and Floyd (Catherine) Bickers.
Julie graduated from Kewanee High School in 1987 and from Black Hawk East and Hamilton Technical College in Davenport, IA. During high school she bowled and was catcher for the softball team. She had worked for BOMAG and currently had been a teller at Peoples National Bank in Kewanee for over 20 years. She was a member of Wapsi Wranglers in the Quad Cities and Giant Goose Conservation Area in Atkinson. She enjoyed showing her “hot rod.”
