GALVA – Julie Ann Yepsen, 46, of Galva, died peacefully at home at 7:02 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 10 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with recitation of the rosary at 4:00 p.m. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Julie Yepsen Memorial Fund c/o of Community State Bank.
She was born January 30, 1972 in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of Fred and Joyce (Krueger) Stollenwerk. She married Michael Yepsen on May 13, 2000 in Kewanee. Survivors include her husband of Galva, her children, Addison Marie Yepsen and Adam Michael Yepsen, both of Galva, her parents of Kewanee, two brothers, Dan Stollenwerk and Chad Stollenwerk, two sisters, Shannon (Eric) Allen and Jackie (Chris) Kell and several nieces and nephews including; Dalton, Gabrielle, Elijah, Maya, Braden and Carver.
Julie graduated from Kewanee High School in 1990 and from Black Hawk East and Illinois Central College and with her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University. She was a dental hygienist, having worked in Kewanee, Bloomington-Normal, Pekin, Moline and Geneseo. She had also been a substitute teacher in Galva and Bradford. She was an avid softball player and had coached volleyball for Visitation School and soccer and baseball for the Galva youth sports league.
