Kathleen M. DeCrane, 96, a resident of the Hillcrest Home in Geneseo, formerly of Galva, died at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the home.
She was born on November 1, 1929 in Wyoming, IL, the daughter of Cecil and Mildred (Anderson) Kitterman. She married John P. DeCrane on November 27, 1948 in Wyoming, IL and he preceded her in death in February of 1990. Survivors include her children; Chuck (Kathy) DeCrane of Galva, Sally DeCrane and her fiancé Mike of Kewanee and Tom “Toby” (Eileen) DeCrane of Plano, IL, six grandchildren; Casey, Brenda, Micheal, Tabitha, Jessica and Nicky, fourteen great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Shelly DeCrane of Galva and her sisters-in-law; Martha Kitterman of Wyoming, IL and Judy Kitterman and Bonnie Clark, both of Galva. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, John Ray DeCrane and Dean DeCrane, daughter, Betty in infancy, grandson, Brian DeCrane and siblings: Betty, Nola, Darlene, Ken and Dean.
Kathleen was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Maxwell’s Market in Woodhull. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, word-search puzzles and watching old westerns. She loved her dogs and cherished the time spent with her family.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31 at Galva Cemetery with Pastor Russell Collister officiating. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Galva Puppy Fund c/o Stevens Veterinary Clinic in Galva. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is assisting the family with arrangements.
