GALVA – Kay Pierce, 79, of Galva, died at 2:15 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 31 at Galva Cemetery. Rev. Karen Martin will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the King Harvest Pet Rescue. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
She was born June 19, 1941 in Kewanee, the daughter of William J. and Lucille (Craig) Quinney. She married Donald L. “Corky” Pierce on September 8, 1980 in Galva and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2003. She had previously been married to Ronald Horkstrom and Robert Bumphrey. Survivors include her two daughters, Dawn (Dwren) Boston of Dahinda and Shawn (Jim) Hardy of Galva, a step-son, William Bumphrey of New Mexico, three step-daughters; Theresa Hilyard of New Mexico, Kim (John) Hawkins of Brooklyn, IA and Dianne Rouch of the state of Ohio, a brother, Everett Quinney of Bradford and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Quinney.
Kay graduated from Galva High School in 1959. She was laborer for the Galva Foundry, D&J Grinder and Bryton Technology. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and the lottery and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her friends.
