Keith (Lou) H. Patty, 72, of Galva, IL died peacefully at 10:08 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Lou lived most of his life in Galva but also spent years in Jacksonville, IL and Chattanooga, TN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at St. John the Beloved in Galva. Celebrant will be Monsignor Michael Bliss. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at St. John the Beloved in Galva with recitation of the rosary at 3:30 pm. The burial will be at Galva Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to St. John the Beloved, Visitation Catholic School, or the Quad City Honor Flight.
He was born on July 7, 1953 in Galesburg IL, the son of Russell and Virginia (Krans) Patty. He married Paula Jo Holevoet on December 20, 1980 in Galva. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Dena Marie Patty.
He is survived by his loving wife Paula, his brother Stuart (Deanna) Patty, his children; Heather (Brett) Sellers, Jake (Ann) Patty and Brynn (Kyle) Schipper and his grandchildren; Jessa, Julia, Micah and Mina Patty (and granddog Finn) and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lou attended Galva High School and graduated in 1971. He was dubbed (along with Pat Lee) the class clown. He served in the United States Army from 1972 to1974, achieving rank of SP4. He was awarded the National Defense Service medal, marksman M16 & M60 and Sharpshooter M79.
In early years he worked at Bob Evans Farms in Galva. He was a USDA Food Inspector for 26 years and in his retirement served as Galva Park District Superintendent and then worked for the City of Galva mowing until last year.
He was an active member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church and served faithfully as an usher and the sausage cooker for the pancake breakfasts. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Galva. He made Cursillo #350 in Peoria IL, and it made a great impact on his life.
He will forever be remembered as a funny, loving, devoted man who will be missed dearly.
