Larry Wexell Obituary

CAMBRIDGE – Larry Lee Wexell, 62, of Cambridge, formerly of Galva, died at 3:45 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Rock Island.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

He was born October 8, 1960 in Galesburg, the son Everett and Verla (Hodges) Wexell. He married Elizabeth “Liz” Venard on September 27, 2008 in Galesburg. Survivors include his wife of Cambridge, his mom of Kewanee, his children; Carrie (Adam) Laethem of Annawan, Nicole Wexell (Chris Haga) of Galva, Corey (Kelly) Wexell of Geneseo and Dillon (Molly) Wexell of Annawan, a step-son son, Jeremy Venard of Cambridge, his siblings; Mike (Chris) Wexell of Kewanee, Al (Mary) Wexell of Galva and Christine Wexell of Port Saint Lucie, FL, six grandchildren; Blake and Preston Haga, Crew and Bexley Wexell, Colbie Wexell and Grayson Wexell, two step-grandchildren, Aiden and Kannon Venard and his grand pets. He was preceded in death by his father.

Larry served his country in the Army National Guard. He worked as a farmer and an over-the-road truck driver which he loved doing. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed trapping and fishing.

In Larry’s words, “Born on a mountain, lived in a cave. Trucking and f****** are what Larry Lee craved.”
