Leo Ray Johnson, 84, of Williamsfield, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born on September 19, 1940, in Truro Township, Knox County, IL. Leo was the son of Willford and Dorothy Yelm Johnson. He was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Rilla Yelm Barber and Jesse Pearl Barber after the passing of his mother when he was just 4 months old. On August 19, 1961, Leo married Judith Ann Gray, and together they shared a life filled with love and family.
Leo had a long and fulfilling career, working for Gates Rubber Company, Caterpillar and retiring from ALCOA in 2001. After retirement, he dedicated his time to woodworking and crafting projects for family and friends in his beloved shop in the barn.
He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church, where his faith and community meant a great deal to him.
Leo is survived by his wife, Judy and two sons, Michael Ord (Brian) Johnson, Curtis Ray (Edie) Johnson, Both of Punta Gorda, FL, one granddaughter Danielle Lacee (Evan) Townsend of San Diego, CA, one brother, Carl Barber, as well as five nephews and seven nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willford and Dorothy, the parents who raised him, Jesse and Rilla, 2 brothers, Connie Johnson, Terry (Evelyn) Johnson, one sister, Erma (Phil) Likes, and two nephews Robbie Woods and Keith Likes.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 23 at Williamsfield Cemetery with Pastor Zoila Marty officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Rux Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Leo touched many lives during his time here and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his kindness, his craftsmanship, and the love he shared with his family and community. He may be gone from our sight; he remains forever in our hearts.
