Lillian "Darlene" Moore

KEWANEE – Lillian D. “Darlene” Moore, 89, of Kewanee, died Monday, November 16, 2020 at her home.

A public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Private services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor John Reside officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Cemetery in Mineral, IL. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Kewanee Senior Citizens Center. The funeral home will monitor capacity limits to maintain compliance with COVID regulations. The funeral home requires that guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.

She was born March 15, 1931 in Kewanee, the daughter of Arron and Lillian E. (Nelson) Moon. She married Robert E. “Bob” Moore on July 20, 1963 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2009. Survivors include three sons; Robert (Karen) Gerard Chandler, AZ and James (Barbara) Gerard and Dan (Sue) Gerard, both of Kewanee, two daughters, Carol (Greg) Schierer of Abingdon, IL and Gayle Walker of Henderson, KY, two step-sons, Greg (Laura) Moore of Geneseo and Victor (Kris) Moore of Erie, IL, two brothers, Robert (Mary Lou) Moon and William (Leatha) Moon, both of Kewanee, one sister, Debra Davis, of Kewanee, eighteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jerry Moon, four sisters; Vivian Jennings, Beverly Philhour, Jean Shueman and Kay Nimrick and step-son, John Moore.

Darlene had worked as a nurse’s aide at Kewanee Hospital until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, traveling and she especially enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
