SPRINGFIELD – Linda K. Plate, 73, of Springfield, formerly of Kewanee and Havana, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at her home.
She was born August 2, 1949 in Kewanee, the daughter of Marvin and Margaret VanDeRostyne. She was a licensed cosmetologist for 30 years working at Dain-T-Dame Beauty Shop for 17 years and later for the next 13 years she had a shop in her home until retiring in 2000 and moving to Havana.
Linda married Keith Plate in 2001. She will be missed by her husband of Springfield, her daughter, Jennifer Payne of Kewanee and son, Aaron Payne (Aspen Bloom) and her grandchildren, Evelynn and Eleanor, all of Tuscola. She was also survived by four step-children; Teena (Bill) Groves of Springfield, Scott (Pam) Plate of Chatham, Jeanny (David) Huber of Chatham and Wanda (Jeff) Schoneweis of Tallula, IL and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark VanDeRostyne.
Cremation will be accorded and private graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee with Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Family and friends are invited to the Flemish-American Club in Kewanee at 12:00 p.m., Monday, September 19 for a time of fellowship and refreshment. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
