Lisa R. Reed

PEORIA - Lisa R. Reed, 61, of Peoria, formerly of Kewanee, died at 10:56 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born January 1, 1963, in Kewanee the daughter of James and Willie Mae (West) Hodge. She had married James L. Reed Sr., and they later divorced but remained lifelong friends. She is also survived by her children; J.R. Reed (Tammy), Brandy Reed (Alvin) and Katrina Reed (Scott), her grandchildren; James, Elijah, Jayven, Khalik and Amariay, her siblings; Cheryl Johnson, Eddie Hodge, Donna Hodge, James Willis Hodge, Lori Wilson, Linda Hodge and Amy Hodge and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Angie Hodge, Deloris Hodge and Randal Hodge.  

Lisa graduated from Wethersfield High School and Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections where she served as a Lieutenant. She also worked locally as a beautician for 15 years. Lisa was a great cook and enjoyed traveling and gardening. Most of all she loved her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

Lisa was a strong woman and leader and believed in working hard for what she wanted in life. She did her best at leading people in the right direction, especially her children. She was a great mother to many. She was a role model and a great inspiration to not only her family but to others as well. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
