Lou Ann Johnston of Altona, passed into heaven on May 2, 2025 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was 91 years old when she moved on to be with the Lord.
Lou Ann was born in Oneida, to Elizabeth and Edmund Weech. Upon graduating from Oneida High School, she married First Lieutenant Tracy Johnston in 1954. Lou Ann supported her husband’s successful Air Force career for 21 years. They raised three children, Kathy Johnston, David (Lynn) Johnston and Mark Johnston in many homes throughout the continental United States.
Following their transition from the military, they managed Tracy’s uncle’s century-old farm, and they continued farming together for over 30 years. After Tracy passed away, Lou Ann and her son Mark managed the family farm from 2011 to the present.
Lou Ann, a baptized believer and follower of Jesus Christ was a member of the First Baptist Church of Galva for over 20 years. She loved music and avidly supported the music ministries of the churches she attended, playing both the piano and organ.
Lou Ann is survived by her three loving children and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Bryan Griem officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in Oneida Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Galva or Gideons International.
