Louise Tharp

KEWANEE – Louise E. (Fowler) Tharp, 92, of Kewanee, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Per her request, cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. A “party” will be held at a later date once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and it is deemed safe to travel and gather. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born August 16, 1928 and married LeRoy Tharp in 1952. She is survived by her four children, Lynette (Lyndell) Lempke, LaJean (Bill) Breedlove and LaNita (Gary Swearingen) Brown all of Kewanee and Layne Tharp of Fort Lauderdale, FL, eight grandchildren, Larissa (Jake) Francis, Landon Lempke, Logan (Karissa) Brown, Abigail Brown, Lindsey Brown, Cal Breedlove, Maddie Breedlove and Jack Breedlove, three great grandchildren, LeAnne Francis and Carston and Cayden Brown and Rosalie (Larry) Schmidt, who was always a part of our family and considered a daughter and grandchildren, Lauren Schmidt and Zack Schmidt.

The following is an excerpt from her handwritten (on a piece of scratch paper, which was typical), instructions to her children upon her death. And we quote, “You kids take my ashes and have a boating party and sprinkle me in the water, Illinois River, the ocean or even down the toilet if you all can’t get together for a good water outing. I want you to party. Have a good time and talk about good things you remember me for!” Her kids would always joke back with her and told her it would be a pretty short party. RIP Weese.
