Marcine Rashid Obituary

GALVA - Marcine E. Rashid, 92, of Galva, died at 1:35 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in the emergency room at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, Kewanee.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30 at the Osceola Grove Community House near the grounds of the Osceola Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Pastor Dean Lane will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, July 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Memorials can be directed to the Country Research Club.

She was born June 5, 1930 in Modena, the daughter of Arlie and Mildred (Loudenburg) McKeever. She had first married Frank Watson and they divorced. She then married Quinton Rashid and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Clifford McKeever, two sisters, Charlotte Nelson and Betty Harris, a grandson Brandon Bowman and a nephew, Mike Nelson, who she helped raise. She is survived by two daughters, Darcy Rosebeck of Galva and Lorie Watson of LaFayette, four grandchildren, Sarah Catton (John Shofner) of Sheffield, Dylan Thompson, Kiersten (John) Howard and Karlie (Brandon) Greene, all of Galva, and eight great grandchildren, Jayse and Korbyn Bowman, of Colona, Eli and Elin Johnson of Sheffield, Lora, Leah, and Lane Howard, Cameron Greene, all of Galva and several nieces and nephews.

She attended church at The Oaks in rural Dahinda. She had worked as a bookkeeper at a number of places over the years including Hyster, Mechanical Insulation and Montgomery Ward. She had also been a telephone operator and a librarian and president of the Ira C. Reed Library in La Fayette. She most recently had worked at the Steeple Building in Bishop Hill and retired at the age of 87. In her early years, she was a talented musician and played the organ and the accordion and sang with the Three Little Sister’s Trio.  She enjoyed genealogy, garage sales, quilting and attending the concerts in the park. She had been a long-time member and president for 25 years of the Country Research Club of Osceola Grove. Her greatest love was for her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
