Maria Chaidez

Maria C. Chaidez, 83, a resident at Allure of Sterling, formerly of Kewanee and Chicago, died at 8:52 a.m., Sunday, May 11, 2025.

She was born on August 14, 1941 in La Purisima, Mexico, the daughter of Pedro and Candidada (Herrera) Garcia. She married José Ignacio Chaidez in 1964 and he preceded her in death in 1983. Survivors include her three children; Fidel Chaidez, Jose Chaidez (Adrienne Ravelingeen) and Hilda Chaidez (Juan Castro), eight grandchildren; Liz (Gumaro Cruz), Destiny, Gabriel (Karina Avelar), Armando (Alexis Rosas), Nina, Autum, Isabelle and Sofia and six great grandchildren; Matthew, Elian, Daniel, Vanessa, Aria and Damian. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Pedro and Lalo, a sister, Socorro and her grandson, Alex.

Maria attended the Pan De Vida Christian Church in Kewanee. She enjoyed reading her bible, crocheting and taking care of her indoor plants. She was a good person who loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor David Guerrero officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee.
