BLOOMINGTON - Mark Howard Stevens, 58, of Bloomington, IL, formerly of Altona, died on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at his home.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Dave Scholl officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. After the service, a further time of fellowship and luncheon will be held at the Colony School in Bishop Hill. The inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21 at Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Altona. Memorials may be directed to an educational fund for his daughter Sophia.
He was born on July 10, 1967 in Galesburg, the son of Glenn Howard and Judith (McQueen) Stevens. He married Lori Irwin on October 9, 1999; they were divorced in recent years. He is survived by his parents of Altona, his daughter, Sophia Stevens of Bloomington, two sisters, Jannifer (Brad) Powelson of Princeton, IL and Monica Stevens of Altona and nieces and nephews, Alexandra and Brenna Powelson and Madison and Evan Hutson.
Mark graduated from ROVA High School in 1985. He then attended Carl Sandburg College and graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in agriculture. Mark worked as a crew foreman for various landscaping companies in the Bloomington area and was currently employed as a security officer by Securitas Services at Bridgestone. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington. Mark was a gentle spiritual man and a talented artist who enjoyed woodworking, listening, playing and writing music and writing and reading poetry.
