Martha L. Holton

KEWANEE – Martha L. Holton, 89, of Kewanee, died at 4:55 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Martin Gutzmer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Methodist Church M&M’s Group. The funeral home will monitor capacity limits to maintain compliance with COVID regulations. The funeral home requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending.

She was born September 6, 1931 in Kewanee, the daughter of John and Lou Catherine (Murray) Gordon. She married Leonard F. “Chub” Holton on February 25, 1955 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on November 17, 2008. Survivors include her son, Frank Holton of Buda, her daughter, Tracy (John) DeLathouwer of Kewanee, her grandson, Matthew, nieces; Aleda Danza, Delcine Heartt and Drena Morris and several great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother and a sister.

Martha graduated from Kewanee High School in 1951. She had worked as a custodian for Kewanee Schools and for the First United Methodist Church where she was a member. In her early years she enjoyed golfing. She was a huge supporter of her husband throughout his political career and was a doting grandma to her only grandson.
