Mary A. Hollingsworth

GALVA – Mary A. Hollingsworth, 80, of Galva died at 6:56 AM on Monday, August 8, 2022 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 15 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Bryan Griem officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Galva.

Mary was born January 20, 1942 in Coon Rapids, IA, the daughter of John and Grace (Messersmith) Haines. She married Ronald Hollingsworth on March 8, 1960 in Sigourney, IA and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2022. Survivors include her children; Randolph (Sandra) Hollingsworth of Beech Island, S.C., Richard Hollingsworth of Cedar Rapids, IA, Ronda Davis of Galva and Rita (Ken) Meaker of Toulon, eight grandchildren: Kyle, Brianna, Robert, Mike, Doug, Crystal, Kendra and Becky, several great grandchildren, three sisters; Jean Harris of What Cheer, IA, Frances (Dean) Schropp of Williamsburg, IA and Joan Hodgson of Grinnell, IA and her sister-in-law, Joyce. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald, a sister, Janice, two brothers, Richard and John and a grandson, Joshua Hollingsworth.

In her earlier years, Mary had worked at Jacobson’s Bakery and at various restaurants. She had worked as a processor at Bob Evans Farms for 28 years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Galva and enjoyed cooking and sewing.
