Mary A. Menard

CAMBRIDGE – Mary Agnes Menard, 61, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at her home in Cambridge with her family by her side.

Mary was born in Kewanee to the late Alice and Robert Neirynck on August 5, 1960. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and received a degree in Nursing from Black Hawk College.

She was married to Stephen Menard for 31 years. She is survived by her husband, Steve, her children; Lisa Fornander, Carl Fornander, Jessica Fornander and Katherine Menard, her brothers, Terry and Larry Neirynck and her grandchildren; Owen Ceja, Aiden Street and Abraham Fornander. Mary has many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly as well.

Mary had a passion for nursing for over 35 years. She worked and ran many retirement communities in Kewanee and loved her residents greatly. She had also served as Vice President of the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce. Mary loved being a grandmother, cooking, gardening, canning during the summer, fishing, singing and especially spending time with her family. Mary will be remembered for her infectious laugh and smile, her singing and her caring and compassionate soul.

At Mary’s request there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. The family asks that any donations be made in Mary’s name to the Volunteer Cambridge Ambulance, 303 SE Rd., Cambridge, IL 61238. Rux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
