Mary L. Meyer

Mary L. Meyer (nee Spanich), age 97. At rest, Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, Illinois. Born in Joliet and a lifelong resident until recent years.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Kay Bronny, cherished granddaughter, Krystiana (Jeremy) Purdy and four great grandchildren; Adelaide, Merritt, Axl and Ace Purdy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. 

Preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Matilda (nee Sakulich) Spanich, sisters; Catherine (late Joseph) Kovach and Rose (late Ben) Midlock, brother; Martin (late Josephine) Spanich and former husband, Robert J. Meyer.

Mary was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Joliet. Over the years, she was active in church and school activities; teaching 1st grade CCD, church choir and the church bowling league. She was a member of the Croatian Cultural Club and member of the Croatian Kolo Dancers and enjoyed helping at the Friday Fish Fry.

The family would like to thank Apostolic Christian Restmor for their care and support to mom. Also, to Rux Funeral Home and to all the family, friends and neighbors that supported Mary throughout the years. A special thank you to niece, Marty Jo McGinnis for her continuing love and support to mom. 

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Church. A private burial will follow. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
