Mary Ann Sams

Mary Ann Sams, 69 of Peoria, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 peacefully at her home.

Mary was born on May 25, 1954 in Monterey, Tennessee, the daughter of James and Grace Sams. Survivors of Mary include her three children Shane (Jamie) Vester, Tonya (Pascal) Maroun, and Terry Joe II (Bri) Bohannan. Her siblings Vivian Brown, Vera (Clifford) Greer, Patty Lafever, and Charles (Annette) Sams, as well as her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She resided with Micheal Harper in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Grace Sams, her brothers James and Wayne Sams, and her granddaughter Kylee Ann Vester.

Mary graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, Illinois. She worked at Caterpillar and also worked as a bartender and bookkeeper at the Mutual Tap in Peoria. Mary found joy in spending quality time with her family and friends and was always full of laughter. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and was an avid bowler.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 15 at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield, Illinois with graveside services following at 11:00 a.m. at Glendale Cemetery in Elmore, Illinois. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements.
