Mary Jean Kelly

NEPONSET – Mary Jean Kelly, 77, a resident of Accolade Healthcare of Peoria, formerly of Neponset, died at 5:05 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2024.

She was born August 1, 1947 in Kewanee, the daughter of Harold E. and Margaret M. (Dwyer) Brown. She married Ivan R. “Sonny” Kelly on June 23, 1965 and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2022. Survivors include her three children; Terri Stone of Kewanee, Todd (Jennifer) Kelly of Normal, IL and Troy Kelly of Kewanee, sister, Kathleen Johnson of Galesburg, her grandchildren; Zachary Zarley, Ryne Kelly, Nicole Zarley, Theresa Calhoun, April Baughman, Emily and Rebecca Kelly, Angie O’Connor and Brian Dexter and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her father, Harold, her mother, Margaret Brown Richison, her daughter, Tammi Baughman, sister, Janette Waleszonia and son-in-law, Terry Stone.

Mary Jean graduated from Wethersfield High School. She worked in retail sales at Farm King in Kewanee for 30 years from 1986-2016 until her retirement. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. She was an avid reader who enjoyed crocheting and listening to Kenny Rogers. Mary Jean loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 27 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Chris Haake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. The burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mary Jean Kelly Memorial Fund for a memorial to be established. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
