Maurine M. Chapman

SHEFFIELD – Maurine M. Chapman, 93, of Sheffield, died at 3:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Hillcrest Home in rural Geneseo.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Dan Wright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in rural Annawan. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She was born June 7, 1929 in Kewanee, the daughter of John W. and Margaret (Coda) Perkins. She married Wade H. Chapman Jr. on January 12, 1951 in the Visitation Church Rectory in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2022. Survivors include her five sons, Michael (Sharon) Chapman of Fremont, CA, Markus Chapman of Neponset, Martin (Ann) Chapman of Annawan, Maurus (Julie) Chapman of Sheffield and John (Susan) Chapman of Annawan, fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John and David, a sister, Iona Morosko and her daughter-in-law, Terry Chapman.

Maurine graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1947 and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1951. She had worked as a nurse for Louise Tharp, for Grace VanVooren and for the county in environmental health for 20 years.
