Nancy June Murphy

KEWANEE - Nancy June Murphy, 80, of Kewanee, died peacefully at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the home of her daughter, Rochelle Haptonstall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 25 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Rene Kindle will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Nancy Murphy Memorial Fund.

She was born March 27, 1943 in Rolla, MO, the daughter of Charles and Genevieve (Gilgour) Henderson. She had been married to John Good, Robert Roach, John Nation Jr. and then to Randall G. “Randy” Murphy whom she married on September 23, 1977 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Troy Allen Nation and a grandson, Nathaniel Haptonstall. She is survived by her daughter, Rochelle (Michael) Haptonstall of Kewanee, a son, Tim Roach of Florida, four grandchildren: Michael, Derek, Cole and Jessica, five great grandchildren, a brother, Von Henderson of Kewanee and nieces and one nephew.

Nancy graduated from Kewanee High School in 1962, then attended St. Francis Hospital nursing aide course and later attended Black Hawk East. She had worked for 10 years at Super X and then for 35 years at Royal Oaks Care Center, Toulon Health Care Center, Hillcrest Home, Geneseo and Private patient care. She was certified nurse’s aide and was a certified assistant in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. She had been a member of the Grace Nazarene Church and recently the First Christian Church in Kewanee. She especially loved her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed following all their school and sport activities. She enjoyed cooking and reading. She would help anyone out and was the sweetest person to everybody. She also had a love for dogs.
