GALVA - Naomi A. Peterson, 102, a resident at the Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of Galva, died at 6:17 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20 at the First United Methodist Church in Galva. Pastor Rebecca Gearhart will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Private inurnment will be at the Galva Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the First United Methodist Church. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born on September 20, 1922, in East Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Orval and Mabel (Graff) Gates. She married Frank “Junior” Peterson on May 11, 1946 in Knoxville and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dalene and Maxine. She is survived by her four children, Linda (James) Kennedy of Burr Ridge, IL, Jolene (Bruce) Zukauskas of Groton, MA, John (Sydna) Peterson of New Orleans, LA, and Elizabeth (Bradley) Buck of Peoria, AZ, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Naomi graduated from Knoxville High School in 1940 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Galva American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed basket making, baking and spending time with her family.
