Nels Edward Magnuson

Our loving brother Nels Edward Magnuson, born December 12, 1960, died February 1, 2023 two miles west of Callao, MO on Hwy 36. 

Nels moved from Altona, IL with his parents on March 1st, 1975, to Brookfield, MO.  He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1979.  He continued to live in rural Brookfield and later moved to Callao, MO.  His love for parents, family, and friends radiated from his big heart and hearty laugh.  Nels also farmed most of his life caring for animals and crops.  He enjoyed watching movies, watching a variety of sports - especially the KC Chiefs, March madness, and telling stories.  Nels worked at Ray Carroll in Sumner, MO; Ag-Land in Brookfield, MO; and drove the school bus for the Brookfield R-3 School district for many years.  He enjoyed family outings at Lake Nehai, Illinois and Branson trips, and visiting cousins and relatives were important to him.  He loved the Lord Jesus and was a servant of God who lived by the golden rule.  

Nels was the son of the late Gregg & Doris (Nelson) Magnuson. 

Siblings include Joyce (Richard) Ruhl, Howard (the late Jeanne (Harris) Magnuson), Sue Quinn, Danny Quinn, and Joel (Stephanie) Magnuson.  Nieces & nephews include Ryan (Amy) Ruhl Cambridge, IL; Kreg (JK) Ruhl White Heath, IL; and Callie (Darrin) Worsfold of Galesburg, IL.  Also, Samuel (Abbey) Magnuson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Brittanie (Aaron) Palmer of Purdin, MO; Danielle Magnuson, and Troy (Claudia) Magnuson of Brookfield.  Great nieces & nephews include Victoria, Alexandria, Sebastian Worsfold; Mason, Amelia, & Naomi Magnuson; Adlyn, Alina, & baby Palmer; Braxton and Raelynn Magnuson.  Nels’ grandparents Kenneth (Margaret Tarleton) Nelson and Howard (Norene Nelson, Magnuson, Rodine) have all passed.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 5th at Rhodes Funeral Home from 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm in Brookfield, MO. Church funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6th, 11:00 am. at Altona Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, IL. Graveside at Galva Cemetery and lunch will follow back at the church.
