Patricia Ann Krause Obituary

KEWANEE - Patricia “Patty”, “Pat” Krause, 84, of Kewanee Illinois died peacefully in the early morning hours on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

Patty was born in Peoria, IL, on January 1, 1937.  She was the daughter of Harold Pepple and Anna “Walters” Pepple.  She married Francis J. Krause in Kewanee on June 1, 1963 and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2008.  Survivors include one son, Tim Krause of Galesburg, IL and many nieces and one nephew, in addition to several great-nieces and great-nephews. Patty was a former member of St Anthony’s Catholic church before joining St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was very devoted to her church.

Patty graduated from Kewanee High School in 1955. Being raised by a single mom she knew what hard work was and supported the household with some of her earnings.  She was employed at the Peoples National Bank for many years starting there in high school, she also worked at Kresge’s, and Walworth’s part-time while still working at the bank.  While working on the island at the bank she said “someday I am going to marry Francis Krause who drives the red corvair, and she did just that! After leaving the bank she was a homemaker. She loved cooking and baking especially old family recipes from Lithuania.  She was a den mother, a gardener especially flower gardening and anything in pinks and purples whether it be bulbs or plants. She was an occasional bowler and bridge player. She was a great hostess to the many children in the neighborhood as well as relatives with many staying for meals on occasion. She took an active role in the Ladies of Columbus winning the “Lady of the Year Award” in 1987. In her later years she loved collecting bears. She loved life and especially her family.

She and Francis took many vacations together always family vacations in the early years and then in retirement even different types of trips.  They traveled to Yellowstone, Estes Park, Minnesota, Florida, Travers City Mich., and Door County.
