Obituary
KEWANEE - Patricia M. “Patty” Emond, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at her home.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service and inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 28 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Kewanee. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
Patty was born November 18, 1956 in Kewanee, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Zablackis) Gillespie Sr. She married Lawrence G. “Larry” Emond on December 18, 1996 in Cambridge and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Don Gillespie, Marlin Gillespie, Ralph Gillespie Jr. and a brother in infancy, Larry Gillespie. She is survived by two brothers, Leigh (Kathleen) Gillespie and Les Gillespie and many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
Patty graduated from Kewanee High School in 1974. She had worked for 30 years in retail and restaurants. She had also been a caregiver for her mother Maggie for 12 years. Patty loved animals and had taken care of many rescues over the years.
