KEWANEE – Pearl C. Fitzpatrick, 70, of Kewanee, died Thursday, March 9, 2023 at her home.
Cremation will be accorded and services will be held at a later date in Michigan. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 17, 1952 in Pigeon, MI, the daughter of Frank and Sally (Jones) Taschner. Pearl grew up in Sebewaing, MI and moved to a variety of places as she built her family of six children. She eventually moved to Junction City, KS where she met the love of her life, Peter (Pete). In 2006 Pearl and Pete, along with their grandson Noah, moved to Kewanee where they remained together until Pete’s passing in 2011.
Survivors include her children; Dawn (Shawn) Norcross of St. Charles, MI, Angelina Fitzpatrick of Junction City, KS, Anthony (Marlene) Fitzpatrick of Columbus, OH, Domenica (Michael) Duggan of Katy, TX, Randi McGowan of Manhattan, KS and her grandson whom she raised, Noah Fitzpatrick who is stationed in Japan, a brother, Donald Taschner (Susan), two sisters, Nancy Schuette and Julia Crawford, sisters-in-law, Lucy Taschner and Mary Taschner; and her twelve other grandchildren Nykki, Chris, Jazmyn, Tearsa, Robert, Andrew, Charlie, Avery, Victor, Konner, Kyler, Kennedy and so many others who called her Mom, Grams or Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Sally Taschner; the love of her life Peter Carusone; her son, Christopher Fitzpatrick and siblings; Frank Taschner Jr., John Taschner, Maebelle Merchberger, Robert Taschner; brothers-in-law, Elmer Schuette, Paul (Pete) Merchberger Jr. and Edward Crawford; and granddaughter Gracelyn.
Pearl had worked a variety of jobs; farming, bartending, cooking and enjoyed her final job working at a homeless shelter helping others. Her favorite job was being grandma. She enjoyed playing Candy Crush, gardening, cooking and baking. She loved her cat, Cutie and especially enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
