Philip E. Guthrie, 78, of Ausee Haugen Nursing Home, Decorah, IA, and longtime resident of Rock Island, IL, died June 10, 2023 at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital, West Union, IA.
Born October 28, 1944, in Kewanee, IL, son of Straughter Guthrie and Charlie Mae Cornish of Kewanee, IL.
Surviving is his son, Bryon D. Guthrie, East Moline, IL, daughter, Kelly A. Guthrie, Upper Marlboro, MD; former wife, Joyce A. Guthrie, Upper Marlboro, MD; sisters, Carolyn Wright and Sandra K. Taylor, brothers Deacon Louis Guthrie and Terry Guthrie, Indiana; godson, David O’Connor, Rock Island, IL and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, Todd Guthrie and grand-daughter, Breona E. Dunbar-Guthrie.
A public viewing is scheduled from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday, July 7 at Rux Funeral Home, 507 S Chestnut St, Kewanee, IL. Committal services with military honors will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 10 at the Rock Island National Cemetery..
The family asks that any donations made in his memory, be sent to the Rock Island National Cemetery to “honor his service to his country and to the many Veterans who have defended our nation.”
