KEWANEE - Rebecca I. “Becky” Ptashnik, 65, of Kewanee, died at 8:48 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 17 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Rebecca Ptashnik Memorial Fund for a memorial to be established.
She was born April 28, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Leroy and Mary Frances (Paine) Janey. She had been married to Kenneth Ptashnik. She is survived by her children, Ashley (David) Lamb of Ft. Worth, TX and Adam Ptashnik and Apryl Ptashnik, both of Kewanee, five grandchildren; Madilynne, Witten, Kennedy, Fallon and Oscar, and her siblings, Gary (Lisa) Janey of Kewanee, Donna (Jack) Youngfeldt of Silvis and her twin brother, Rick Janey of Kewanee, thirteen nieces and nephews, twenty-five great nieces and nephews and thirteen great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Tim Janey, a niece, Tracy Janey, a nephew, Rick Janey, a great nephew, Coby Lemon and a great-great nephew, Bentley Lemon.
Becky graduated from Kewanee High School in 1975. She had been the owner and President of Bryton Technology in West Jersey. She had also worked at Trans-Tech in Peoria. She attended State Road Community Church in rural Kewanee and enjoyed arts and crafts, fishing and decorating her home. Christmas was extremely important to Becky and she made sure it was truly meaningful to her family and she especially enjoyed decorating for the holiday season. Becky also enjoyed going on vacations with her children and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
