Rex A. Gibbs, 75, of Gilson, died Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from injuries he sustained in a UTV accident.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 15 at the Williamsfield American Legion. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is assisting the family arrangements.
He was born on January 28, 1950 in Galesburg, the son of Dwane L. and Betty L. (Yelm) Gibbs. He married Jan L. Grohs on November 22, 1969. The family includes Jan, his wife of 55 years; children Angela (Andrew) White; Brenda (Ryan) Jeakins, and daughter Conley; Justin (Amanda), children Lily, Gwen, Sawyer, and Nixon; Andrew, sons Grayson and Parker, and their mother Brittany; siblings Milo (Anna), Gene (Judy), Dixie Brown, and Jim (Cathie). He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rex graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1968 and began his lifelong career of farming. In addition, he operated a successful custom baling business. He enjoyed entertaining his grandkids around the farm and spending time with family. He could often be found at the local grain elevator or FS plant sharing stories and laughter with friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
