KEWANEE – Richard A. “Rich” Ruzas Sr., 68, of Kewanee, died at 2:14 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Fr. John Burns will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 28 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was born June 21, 1951 in Kewanee, the son of Anton and Ethel Millslagle) Ruzas. He married Diane Osborne on October 26, 1979 in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, son, Tony Ruzas of Kewanee, grandsons, Dillon and Anthony, his mother, Ethel Ruzas of Kewanee, brothers, Anthony (Ceil) Ruzas of Ohio and Kevin Ruzas (Mary McIntire) of Kewanee, sisters and brothers-in-law; Doris (Larry) Rogers, Thomas (Susie) Osborne, Peggy (Wesley) Harper, Jackie (Bill) Oberg, Joe (Kathy) Osborne, John Osborne (Cathy Streul) and Marilyn Osborne and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his son, Richard A. Ruzas Jr., his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Wilma Osborne and three brothers-in-law; Raymond Osborne Jr., Jackie Osborne and Douglas Osborne.

Rich graduated from Kewanee High School in 1969 and attended Eureka College and transferred to Illinois State University, graduating in 1973 and then attended Police Academy. He had worked for ABC Signs, Kewanee Manufacturing, the Kewanee Police Department, Caterpillar, the Annawan Police Department and for Black Hawk East. Also, to keep himself busy he was a bus driver for the Kewanee School District. Rich loved to fish and hunt with his sons. He enjoyed vacationing in Canada and Minnesota with his family and friends and also made many friends along the way.
