WASHINGTON - Robert M. “Rob” or “Robbie” VanDeVoorde, 56, of Washington, IL, formerly of Kewanee, died at 1:13 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2023 in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 6 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wethersfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for an educational fund for his children.
He was born September 28, 1967 in Kewanee, the son of Robert C. and Carol (Freed) VanDeVoorde. He married Jennie L. Collins on July 1, 2000 in Bloomington, IL. Survivors include his wife of Washington, his mother of Kewanee, his two children; Michael and Natalie VanDeVoorde, both of Washington, two brothers, Charles “Chuck” VanDeVoorde of Kewanee and Timothy “Tim” (Lisa) VanDeVoorde of Foley, AL, three sisters; Vicki Goodrich of Kewanee, Debra “Deb” (Dan) Meyer of Galva and Pamela (Brad) Kemerling of Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Robbie graduated from Wethersfield High school in 1986. He worked as a mechanic assembler for Komatsu Mining System in Peoria. He loved the outdoors and anything that had to do with water including water skiing, fishing, boating and relaxing by the ocean on the beach. He also enjoyed cars and motorcycles.
