ROBERTA “BOBBIE” JOAN ST. LEGER (nee RUX), age 89, was born on July 14, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. Bobbie attended St. Ferdinand Grammar School and Notre Dame High School for Girls in Chicago. Bobbie graduated from DePaul University with BA in Music Education. She married Thomas V. St. Leger on March 11, 1961 and they were married for 58 years until Thomas’ death. She is survived by her loving children, Manette (Michael) Lill, Todd and Richard St. Leger, all from Chicago. She was the proud grandmother of Joshua Lill and the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lucretia (Lu) Rux.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and John P. Rux, as well as her siblings: brother, Gerard Rux, sister, Marilynn and brother-in-law, Harvey “Skip” Johnson.
Bobbie began playing piano at the age of 6 and trained as a concert pianist at DePaul University where she earned a BA in Music Education. After college, Bobbie taught music for the Niles Public School District. In the mid 1950’s she traveled and lived in Japan where she played piano in a program sponsored by the United States Government for the US Military. Upon returning home from Japan, Bobbie taught piano and played concerts in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was an Assistant Organist at St. John Bosco Parish in Chicago from 1983 until the late 1990’s.
Bobbie shared her talent and love of music with her family and friends throughout her entire life. She brought great joy and fun to every celebration!
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., Chicago, IL at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment private.
