Rose Marie McKenna

KEWANEE - Rose Marie McKenna, 95, lifelong resident of Kewanee, IL, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Hammond-Henry Long Term Care Unit in Geneseo, IL.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Johndamaseni Zilimu on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 5:00-6:45 p.m. at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Visitation Catholic School or to Saint John Paul II Parish.

Born to William and Mary (Hellman) Erdman on February 21, 1927 in Kewanee, IL the 7th of 9 children, Rose attended Visitation Catholic Grade School and Wethersfield High School, graduating in 1944. She worked over 20 years for the Kewanee School District and was past president of the Henry/Stark Secretaries Club. After retirement she volunteered time tutoring children in reading. Rose was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish and served on the Altar and Rosary Society and the Funeral Committee. She enjoyed bowling and is a member of the Kewanee Bowling Hall of Fame. She also had a love of books, crossword puzzles and cards and played many years in Bridge and Euchre clubs. Above all she cherished time spent with her family.

Rose is survived by her children, Sheri (Gary) Mitro, Bill (Kellie) McKenna, Jim (Tami) McKenna all of Kewanee, IL and Kathy (Tim) Borota of Baraboo, WI. She is further survived by her grandchildren Ryan (Merry Spain) Mitro, Davenport, IA, Janelle (Tony) Gibson, Xenia, OH, Eric (Andrea) Borota, Brittany (Zak) Kluck, Hailey (Joe Prchal) Borota, Baraboo, WI and Megan McKenna and Grace Murphy, Kewanee, IL. Great grandchildren are Asher and Phoebe Mitro, Tony, Christian and Chloe Gibson, Rexton and Macy Borota, Kyle and Nora Rose Kluck. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald E. McKenna, grandson Adam Borota and great grandson Charles Kluck, four brothers, four sisters and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
