Ruby A. Jones

Ruby A. Jones, 98, of rural Galva, died at 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at her home.

She was born on December 31, 1927 in Galesburg, the daughter of Floyd and Norma (Upp) Peck. She married Donald W. Jones January 4, 1948 in Galva and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2018. Survivors include her son, Tom (Mei) Jones of Galva, her daughter, Teresa (Mike) Gibbons of Galva, five grandchildren; Cooper (Darci) Langdon, Heather (Gary) Kiesling, Josh (Holly) Hopping, Zack Hopping and Kylee (Josh) Glaser and eight great grandchildren; Rhett Kiesling, Parker, Olivia, Sawyer and Raya Hopping, Adlin Langdon and Nora and Lucy Glaser. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Linda Langdon and two brothers, Bob Peck and Wallace in infancy.

Ruby graduated from Oneida High School in 1945. She had worked at Abilities Plus and in her earlier years at Metcalf Hardware in Oneida. But mainly, Ruby was a farmer’s wife who took care her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galva and she enjoyed carving, painting, crocheting, knitting and baking. She especially loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Rebecca Gearhart officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice or to Caring Seniors of Galesburg.
