Russell M. Underwood Jr.

KEWANEE - Russell M. Underwood Jr., 92, of Kewanee, died at 7:35 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Hillcrest Home in rural Geneseo.

Cremation has been accorded and a private burial of his ashes will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Senior Center. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born April 7, 1929 in Wyanet, the son of Russell and Leona (Raley) Underwood Sr. He married Violet Glovka on November 12, 1953 and she preceded him in death in 2005. Survivors include his brother, Jerry Underwood of Kewanee, seven children; Jeanine (Jim) Cox of Rock Springs, WY, Harry (Dianna) Underwood of Kewanee, Sonny (Barb) Underwood of Elgin, IL, Paul Underwood of Kansas City, MO, Carol (Brooks) Debruhl of Ohio, IL, Connie (Ron) Mowry of Janesville, WI, and Mark (Denise) Underwood of Olive Branch, MS and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Russell was a machinist and had served his country in the Air Force during World War II.
