Ruth E. VanWynsberg

KEWANEE – Ruth E. VanWynsberg, 76, of Kewanee, died at 10:28 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2025 at her home.

She was born on July 14, 1948 in Kewanee, the daughter of Henry and Elaine (Gillis) Byers. She had married John H. Crain and he preceded her in death. She later married Steven R. VanWynsberg on April 17, 1976 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2017. Survivors include her two sons, Virgil VanWynsberg and John Crain, both of Kewanee, her daughter, Brandi (Jerry) Stoner of Kewanee and six grandchildren; Lena, Kaydenze, Addisyn, Alexis, Jalavar and Virgil III. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mildred and Beverly and a brother, Emmert.

Ruth graduated from Kewanee High School and attended cosmetology and nursing school at Black Hawk College East Campus. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Royal Oaks Care Center and had also worked at Boss Manufacturing, Excelled Sheepskin and Leather and as a cosmetologist. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed, camping, going out to eat and collecting treasures. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Park District. Rux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
