Sandra K. Wirth

KEWANEE – Sandra K. Wirth, 73, of Kewanee, died Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at her home.

She was born on February 25, 1952 at St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee, the daughter of Richard and Alice (Ouart) Switzer. She married Donald N. Wirth on September 24, 1976 at the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2020. Survivors include her brother, Robert “Bob” Switzer, many nieces and nephews including Carolyn (Joe) Jansen, many cousins including, Pam and Matthew Hyett, sister-in-law, Carleane (Chuck) Husz, her friend, Barb Salisbury, her beloved Abby Rose and many other friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Tara Ann, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bev and Lynn Wirth and her beloved kitties, Stripes, Smokey, Boots, Miss Lizzy and Joy.

She graduated from Kewanee High School and from Black Hawk College East Campus. In her early years she worked at Sears and later worked as a teller at the Kewanee Banking Center and also at Lake Street Floral and the Cambridge Florist. She was an animal lover, especially cats and she enjoyed gardening, reading, embroidering, antiquing, jewelry making and frequenting eBay.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 14 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee with Pastor Haley Hausman officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society-Kewanee Chapter. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
