Sandy Jenkins

Sandy Jenkins, 74, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully at 5:16 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the home of her son in Galva.

She was born on September 29, 1951 in Chapel Hill, TN, the daughter of James and Mayme (Slaughter) Leverette. She married Ralph W. Jenkins Jr.

on May 31, 1977 in Shelbyville, TN and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2009. Survivors include her two sons, James (Tina) Swank of Galva and Nathan Hulslander of Ina, IL, two brothers, David Leverette of Bishop Hill and Kevin Leverette of Woodhull, a sister, Wilma Leverette of Cambridge, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Lori Swank, four brothers; James, Larry, Clifford and Allen and sister, Barb Reynolds.

Sandy worked as a certified nurse assistant at the Hillcrest Home in Geneseo. She thoroughly enjoyed fishing and going to the riverboats.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation, and private inurnment will be held at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to her family.
