ELMORE - Shirley J. Bantz, 91, a resident of Aperion Care in Galesburg, formerly of Elmore, died at 5:05 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at the center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Teri Shane will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery in Elmore. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements. COVID-19 regulations of wearing face masks and social distancing will be required at the church.
She was born June 5, 1929 in Elmore, the daughter of John and Mattie (Hart) Lumberry. She married Maurice E. Bantz on February 1, 1947 in Peoria and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Harland, Raymond and Paul and sisters; Audrey, Marjorie, Wyona and Golda. She is survived by five sons; Don, John, Harley, Dennis and Larry Bantz, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley had worked at Alcoa Building Products in Princeville as a machine operator. She retired after 20 years in 1991. She was a member of the former Elmore Methodist Church and she enjoyed going to the races, cooking, baking and canning. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved supporting them and attending their sporting events.
