KEWANEE - Stephen W. Thurwanger, 70, a resident at The Loft in Eureka, formerly of Kewanee, died at 8:57 a.m., Monday, April 19, 2021 at his residence.
Cremation will be accorded and private inurnment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born on July 21, 1950 in Kewanee, the son of Robert and LaVina (Faber) Thurwanger. He is survived by three sons, Robert (Heather) Thurwanger of Bloomington, IL, Stephen Thurwanger of Texas and Shaun (Cassandra) Thurwanger of East Moline, five grandchildren, two brothers, Jerry (Linda) Thurwanger of Acworth, GA., and Jim (Janine) Thurwanger of Sterling, IL, five sisters, Deb (Ron) Salisbury and Sue (Larry) Beck, both of Kewanee, Judy Breunig of Evansville, IN., Elaine (Ken Klouda) Adkison of Coggin, IA and Cherie (Randy) Jones of Cedar Rapids, IA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert “Bobbie” Thurwanger Jr., two brothers-in-law, Tim Adkison and John Breunig and his granddaughter, Ariel Gracelynn Thurwanger.
Stephen graduated from Kewanee High School in 1969. He had worked at Caterpillar. He enjoyed electronics, his computer and camping. He was of the Catholic faith.
