Steven M. Whaley

ELMWOOD – Steven M. Whaley, 70, of Elmwood, died at 6:02 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Galesburg.

He was born April 25, 1953 in Kewanee, the son of Irv and Lois (Huber) Whaley. He married Sherri A. Beauprez on May 5, 2007 in Elmwood. Survivors include his wife of Elmwood, a stepson, Bradley Briggs of Kewanee and his sister, Becky Riley of Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Lee Floy.

Steven graduated from Galva High School in 1971 and attended the University of Illinois. He worked as an engineer for Caterpillar in Mossville. He also wrote a book about the military experiences of his father, stepfather and his uncle Stuart and provided copies to the members of their military units.

Cremation will be accorded and a gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4 at the Galva American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Chapter of the Henry County Humane Society. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
