Steven Ray "Von" Smith

KEWANEE - Steven Ray “Von” Smith, 65, of Kewanee, died at 12:26 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee or Galva American Legions.

He was born September 21, 1957 in Kewanee, the son of Roger and Shirley (Thurston) Smith. He is survived by his companion of 37 years, Patty Billings, his children, Ryan Smith of Kewanee, Josh (Amanda) Smith of Galva and Lacey Smith of Winona, MO, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and a sister, Karen (Mark) Kleeman of Hudson, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

“Von” graduated from Galva High School in 1975. He had worked as a truckdriver and as a welder. He enjoyed fishing, visiting at the American Legion in Kewanee, riding his Harley’s and spending time with his grandchildren and friends.
